High PREN stainless steel for severe chloride service
Super Duplex 2507, UNS S32750, is a high-strength duplex stainless steel with increased chromium, molybdenum and nitrogen compared with standard duplex grades. It is selected for aggressive chloride and seawater environments where pitting, crevice corrosion and stress corrosion cracking are procurement risks.
The alloy performs only when supplied in the correct condition. For critical use, buyers should verify solution annealed condition, ferrite balance, PREN, impact testing where required and full heat-number traceability.

PRENUsually expected at 43 or above for 2507-class super duplex performance.
FerriteFerrite balance must be reviewed because corrosion and toughness depend on microstructure.

- Accepting S32750 without checking PREN and ferrite.

- Waiting until goods-in inspection to discover missing impact or ferrite data.
Procurement note: Super duplex stainless steels are selected for microstructure-sensitive corrosion performance. Incorrect condition or incomplete testing can remove the advantage the grade was chosen for.
